Cam Belt Change

I have been Quoted £425 by Audi (Bath) All in.

Approx £250-310 by a specalist depending on which option I choose,

a) Cam belt and tensioner, or
b) Cam belt, tensioner and water pump.

Firstly should the water pump be changed?

and does any one know of any VAG service centres in the Bristol area?

Hi shezlee
I can only find one post in tha archives relating to a waterpump failure so it's not a common problem. If however you do need a replacement in the future then virtually the whole job needs doing again.
Personally I would also change the waterpump, the alternator belt and as the coolant needs to be drained, have it filled with new antifreeze.
If an independent does it, ensure he fits genuine belts and uses the Audi antifreeze (I'm sure you would insist on this anyway)

Cheers Spike
