There are 2 type of engines in the A2 1.4 TDI (55 kw!). From 1999 till (sept?) 2003 it is the AMF type engine which needs a cambelt change every 90.000 KM (60.000 miles) and the BHC type engine fitted after (sept?) 2003 with an interval of 120.000 KM (75.000 miles).
Audi did not change the interval for the AMF type engine. It's still 60.000 miles!!! The new type engines have the longer interval.

Bit of a dumb Q's how can I tell if mine is a AMF or BHC unit the car is a 2004/54 1.4 tdi, the reson is when i brought the car they told me it was the 90hp unit car ins say its 75hp What Car say they changed the units at the beggining of 2004
Mine has nearly 50,000 miles not full audi history so best I change it?
I feel a bit stupid asking because i work in the trade but I know nothing about engines only the basics
