hi there,

im thinking about installing a car media system in my next car which will be an a2tdi.

i have seen the Mac mini which is a very compact pc about 2" high and 6.5" square made by apple.

now this little computer would be ideal as an onboard av system which should fit in the glovebox?
it has a built in dvd player,cdrw,40gb hd,modem, audio output, bluetooth, wifi, and comes with the osx operating system and a few progs like itunes which could be used for storing my whole cd collection for play back through the a2's stereo system?

all i would need is a small widescreen touchscreen lcd monitor

has anyone got or seen a similar av system in a car before or any advice on fitting or products?

many thanks in advance.

Have you tried a Google search for 'carputer'?

There are many bods out there who have fashioned a PC into the dashboard!

I am a Mac-Fan (have 4 of them), but most people who build car-pc´s use VIA-Epia-Boards (which are about the size of the Mac Mini) and use Linux or Windows on it with a 7"-TFT-Touchscreen. I think the same would be possible with a mac, but you´d have to do a lot of the software yourself.... (someone already did part of the work, though, check http://www.mujmac.cz/art/hw/tatra_mac_eng.html.

Another resource could be at http://www.cartft.com/
