Hi all, i am in need of the location of the reverse light switch and how easy it is to change ??
1.4 petrol, 05 plateHi
Are we talking petrol or diesel?

the revwese lights were staying on so was told it was a faulty switch !!Have you checked fuse 29?
Is this the same location on the 1.6 FSI BAD engine. ?I have checked fuses , bulbs and I have no reverse lights as opposed to lights permanently on, the wiring does look a little suspect with what looks like a spilced ground . Should I bridge the pins and confirm the lights work before ordering a new switch. Is there another way to test switch?I’m with @audifan on this but should you need to change the switch after eliminating other possibilities it’s as shown on the picture below

Hopefully an FSI owner on the forum will confirm for you, but that certainly looks like the switch on the front of the gearbox on an AUA. Thanks , yes the wiring is exposed , I need to fix this , looks like the earth has been spliced and attached to a bolt on the engine. maybe bad earth ? Thinking aloud and have not done it myself but in theory you may be able to remove the switch with the front of the car on ramps or stands if you can get sufficient elevation for there to be no possibility of gearbox oil coming out. That way you will be able to test the switch action with a meter as well as testing the cable continuity
J
