Climate control blowing hot

I have done a couple of searches on this subject, and before I take my 1.4tdi to the local Audi dealer I thought I would just ask the question.

The climate has not had to work since last year but with the warmer weather I have noticed the climate control is constantly blowing warm air.
I have done the following:
Operated the air flow controls for the three positions, all seams ok
Had the gas checked, all ok, operating at the correct pressure.
removed the pollen filter, this was dirty but made no difference whether the filter was in or out to the air flow.

When pressing the eco button so it is on, the air flow spread reduces and is not quite as warm.

On one occasion today I pressed the eco button and the air con started to work, I turned the eco button off and the air remained cold, I have not been able to replicate this since.

Any comments readily received, including a more cost effective method of repair, rather then paying dealer prices.

In any mode other than 'Econ' the AC is on all the time - remember AC is not just about chilled air, it works across all the temperature ranges to dehumidify the air.

You should run your AC for a lengthy period at least once a month - ideally just leave it in Auto or without running in Econ. Given the modern nature of AC units there is little to be lost in terms of mpg by keeping it on and the gas has a lubricant that needs to circulate to keep the seals working. I never use ECON as I dont see the point of it.

You say the gas is OK? Have you had it checked? Kwik-Fit do an AC re-gas for £49 and will check for any leaks - if there is a leak or they cant get the temp cooler there is no charge.

Thanks for the replies,:)
I run the Climate on auto all the time.
Yesterday I had a mobile air con man around and he checked the compressor, gas levels and basic controls, but felt the problem was beyond him and recomended that I go to Poole Audi, For an hours work he did not charge me despite me offering cash.

I have read a few threads on this subject and decided to give the climate a " full workout" with everything on full, switching from windsreen to face to floor.

The net result is that if I start the car with climate off and then switch the climate onto eco, I get cold air, and then switch to auto I continue to get chilled air.
As stated above, I need to get the car pluged in to find what fault codes are being picked up.
