So i am not promoting his business for any reason other than to help members with a local option.

Steve, any rough ideas on clutch prices for a 1.6fsi, purely out of curiosity for the future and not just yet, and this may be a silly question but can clutches deteriorate through old age as well as mileage as can happen with cam belts!

Hi,

Unfortunately I am not sure about the pricing for a clutch and the cost varies greatly depending on the quality of clutch you want to aim for.

As for the deterioration, age does not play as much of a part in the clutch life as it does for a cam belt.

The rubber on the belt deteriorates with time, but the clutch lining is much more stable and does not deteriorate greatly over time. There are many A2s running around on the original clutches without any problems, so that is up to 16 years old!

Gary said that a rough estimate would be £350 all in.
But he would need you reg number if you need a more accurate quote (the parts cost varies slightly)

Thought it prudent to add to this thread following my DMF change and MYP box conversion I sourced an LUK kit and release bearing for £405 from www.partservice.co.uk for a Saturday delivery. Huge difference to the car and cured the dreaded vibration.
