collinite 476 beading on the A2

Following my thread and brief cleaning list here Click here

I borrowed some Collinite 476 and gave the A2 a coat of it at the weekend. I was impressed with the ease in which it went on and off. Check out the beading..

That should be it protected for winter..

Wow that's one serious camera you've got!! i use simoniz orginal hard wax but i have no idea how it compares to your 476 product in terms of ability to get through the worst of this winter without additional applications. I find i can go around 4-6 weeks with this stuff washing and drying perhaps weekly before i re-apply a coat, and even then mostly to bring up the shine again as the beading is still effective.

Once or twice a year  and the shine remains ?? or do you need to top up with detail sprays or summit ??

once or twice a year

when I wash the car on average once every six weeks - I can't for four months of the year as it's freezing - then that's enough. We essentially don't get much rain here, just snow. The coat I put on in August was still beading last week and that was a top-up to the one I put on in May. It holds up really well.

I wash mine every week or every other week. I always spray Megs QD when drying mine, keeps it topped up.. I have now added 476 to my christmas list... Its also handy that you can bring the bonnet inside for polishing in the evening.. or is that sad?

I used to use turtle wax spray it wet on my old cars and although it had an effect visually it was rubbish in terms of durability. Since I moved to old school hard wax I haven’t looked back. The finish is superior and the durability is such that I wash the car once a fortnight and all it requires is a shammy dry too look mint. I use a local garage pressure washer mostly but found a tub of turtle wax ICE shampoo in my cupboard and can’t believe the difference that makes if used to sud the car. Dunno what soap the garage is using probably bubble bath

Looking at getting this 476 too, my current wax will give me about 2 months max of protective beading + shine, then the shine will start to dull. These guys are talking about 3 times that  Got to be worth a look.

clay it, two coats of colly at least 24 hours apart and you're good.
Don't forget to wash using two buckets (did the floor like this the other day and it made a huge difference!) and preferably two mitts, one just for wheels / the satin black panels.

I've ordered some of this special wax! Hope to keep the A2 in great shape over winter, or maybe less washing with less guilt!:p

Ok been onto the ‘clean your car’ site to order some Collinite and found products called pre-wax cleaners. My paint work is smooth as a baby’s bum, but the roof and now tailgate are starting to feel a little be ‘dry’ to the touch.

Would this Pre-wax cleaner sort it? or do I need to clay bar? i've not clay barred anything before. Probably practice on my dads car :D

Collinite came from ebay, noticed the wax was a lot firmer than the carnuba wax I use. Happy with the outcome, and hopefully will keep A2 safe over the horrid winter months :) Will be interested on how long the beading lasts...

Looks super, what do you think of the wax? I hope you have a heated garage and weren't out cleaning that in the snow..

Recommended so far! Usually use P21s but this appears a lot firmer and hopefully tougher. Gives a nice shine tho, but a dark colour so expected...

No heated garage in fact no garage full stop LOL! But rain came and washed the snow away so it wasn't too bad -except I couldn't feel my hands.

After a 5-series, the A2 seems as quick to clean as wiping my nose!

I washed mine today for the first time since I gave it a coat of the 476 (prob 3 weeks will all the snow), it seemed easy to clean, I foamed it first with some Megs shampoo and power hosed the dirt off, TBH this would nearly of done, I'm not sure if it was the shampoo or the 476, but the dirt just fell off. I think it has a hard time sticking to the wax, dried with some QD and it beaded really well. I'm really pleased with it..

quick video of the water run off..
