Concert radio.

I have broken the concert radio getting it out of the car. One of the tabs had bent over in the housing and it had to be forced out even with the use of keys. I have a concert radio out of a car I use for spares but when I turn it on it says “safe” in the display. Can I code it to this car and how do I do it. Thanks. Brian

You will need the code to unlock the replacement radio. If you don't have this there are suppliers on eBay that are able to offer this service.
Alternatively, can you replace the tab on the original unit?

What do you mean when you say “replace the tab”
The tab can be removed once the screw has been taken out.

Someone may have a duff unit they can offer the clips from? Place a wanted ad perhaps? Bad luck there though

I must have broken part of the circuit board while taking the radio out as display does not light up and the radio does not work. I need to code the other unit to my car but dont know how to do that.

Look on ebay for "audi radio codes" Costs around £7.50 - £10.00.
They'll ask for radio serial number, or photo of it. 10/20 mins later, you'll get your code. Simples ?.

I am struggling to believe you could have killed the radio by removing it, after all most of it is in a steel box.

Check the fuse on the back of the radio.

Well with a user name of chiefmechanic I must say that frightens me...

May I suggest that you put those metal shiny things back in the box, lock it and throw away the key.....;)

It is possible in the struggle to remove the radio that the fascia connection for the front panel became partially disconnected. Remove the screws holding the front panel on and take it off completely. Look for damage then refit it squarely and refit the screws. Reconnect the car wiring to the back including the aerial, check or replace the radios own fuse and try the radio. Hopefully all working. If not get the ebay code for the other unit and hope that is in working condition.

The side tab bent back on itself and I had to use some force to pull it out. I can see a bit of circuit board broken at the facia end and the radio won’t turn on.
can I use vcds to find the radio code on is that not possible.
