Connection cable missing?

Hi,

I was just checking my 1.4SE engine to see if any loose wiring my be causing the engine to keep cutting out, when I noticed what looked like a connector without an attachment. Please see photo. Can anyone advise what this is and whether something should be attached.

check that both the earths in the footwells are clean and tight. What happens when it cuts out?

I don't know what that thing is for, but it is as it should be on the picture. Mine looks the same.
