convenience module part number

Hi A202,

VCDS is the new name for VAG COM - a thrid party diagnostic tool.

Yes, I can rematch keys to cars and also provide new keys and for certain A2s, provide the new-er style fobs too.

It's all on the forums somewhere, just google it!!

Cheers,

Mike

PS 7000 and still going strong!!!

so if i removed the module, sent it away, then replaced it would i be able to drive car after fitment to my garage for coding..or would it need to be done in situ?

Once a module is repaired, you'll need VCDS to code and rematch the keys to the car, so yes, VAG COM is necessary.
NO; you do not need VAG-COM or any other diagnostic system after repair; all your personalized data retain, so "plug-n-drive"

I stand corrected then, sorry for any confusion.

Not knowing what is involved in the repair though, I assumed that the re-matching would be needed, especially when one of the symptoms of a dodgy cccu is the non-recognition of keys.

Cheers,

Mike

you don't have to; as I started to repair them I had also assumed that a VAG-COM afterwork would be neccessary; but all the units I've sent back needed no further coding or remote matching at all (normally the EEPROM data is not corrupted by the failure)
