:D As an architect I read drawings "to scale"... so 19 looked as big as 24 and I thought it was part of the main fixings for the central console!

Nice sig pic. Johann. How did you animate the JPG? I have used animated GIFs in the past, didn't know you could do it with a JPG.

Thanks... hmmm to be honest I can't remember... I made the gif about a year ago for another forum... had never done it before so had to search for somewhere to do it... but I just inserted the jpg, the program scalled them for me and then you set the time etc for each frame... it was quite a stupid program as well I did it in... something I had on my 'puter at the time, but I honestly can't remember... sorry...

I had 2 different No 14's

The part numbers are:-
V8Z0 864 079 A
V8Z0 864 080

can any one confirm the one they got.

Here's my list of parts from my order sheet:

1 x Bracket 8Z0 864 079 B
1 x Bracket 8Z0 864 080
1 x Shelf 8Z0 863 476 A/4PK
2 x Adapter 8Z0 864 455
2 x Screw N 903 642 01
2 x Screw N 102 883 03
2 x Washer N 908 408 01

Lee, I guess that you can see that I didn't have an 8Z0 864 079 A, so that must be the bracket you didn't need.

OK so who else has had trouble removing the old bolts from the rear seat brackets? A T30 they are not! But what are they, they are not security torx either? I resorted to jamming an allen key in at an angle, to get the little sods out. The washers, above or below the carpet? I went below so you cant see them, any views?

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I had to get a man at our local garage to undo them for me. I am unsure what they are. The replacements are definitely T45 (although a T40 works just as well). I placed my washers beneath the carpet (I'm not sure that Lee had any washers supplied with his as he didn't mention it).

Perhaps an Audi garage might be able to comment on what exactly they are so we can update the guide?

I removed them with an inbus (i hope it is the same name in UK).
It is a six-sided key

It fits just perfect and I removed the old bolts without any problems.

I found that the edges on the old bolt head just disintegrated, and that was without any great force being applied. I wonder if they are using bolts designed to be put in but not removed?

Ps.I was using a T30 for the removal

Mine did not disintegrate... but then mr audi used the right tool to take them off and he did so with no trouble at all... I'm still sorry that I never got the name!!!

I took my seats out before going to work and left the carpet etc open, then over lunch went over to Audi and asked them to undo the bolts, they did and that evening I finished the assembly process...

Using the wrong tools will only damage them and you may end up NEVER getting them out!!! Be careful!!!

I think they can be removed.

The system works with a special multi-sided key.
My 2000'Passat used the same system for the steering wheel.

I switched to leather and had to take the old one off. My dealer switched the steering wheels by using this special tool...

V8Z0 864 080 - Bracket
V8Z0 864 079 A – Bracket (This one not used):(
V8Z0 864 455 – Adapter (2 off)

Lee/Ade - I was just having a look at Lee's fitting guide for the rear cup holder (I haven't actually had a proper read of it until now) and see that you need to take the rear seats out to fit it.

How easy is it to remove the seats?

Also, in the tools listing, you say that certain security bits are needed. Is this the 'star' shaped socket bits or something else?

Taking my seats out was the first thing I did after getting my car!!! Just because I could!

...it is very easy Stuart! Just tip the seat forward as normal and look at the hinges. You just push the seat forward a tiny bit and lift them up and out! Easy. And they (nearly) stand upright on their own if the headrests point up... Just make sure they are level in correctly in before you push the seats down again. Mine was not once and I completely bent the hinge... I could not understand why the seat did not want to clip back into the top bracket... something was just skew... took it in for service and asked them to look at it and they found the hinge was bent!
