Hi guys, last year before MOT, I had to use an universal cv boot fitted with hose clips.
I know it's not ideal, especially the hose clip is thicker than normal cv boot clips, but the space was just enough for the hose clip to spin around, without touching anything. It was all good, passed the last and this year's inspections too.
For this year's MOT though, they had to change the front suspension arm, due the dust cover was split.
After driving back, I heard something kept knocking and upon checking, I saw the hose clip came off.
After many tries, the hose clips kept coming off, no matter what, so I'd fitted zip ties temporarily, but that came off right away too.
So I'd ordered cv boot clips, fitted them, but in less than a day, all of them came off too At the moment nothing stay on the wider side. I'd even filed down the bolt, as it was sticking out 1/2", took hours to get it done, now the bolt is leveled with the top surface of the nut, (see pic), but it'd changed nothing unfortunately.
On the opposite side it's the original cv boot, also fitted with hose clips, and that's absolutely fine.
Any idea what to check? This issue started, right after the garage had changed the suspension arm, 1.5 year before that, the hose clip sat nicely on the universal cv boot and never came off. Now even the slimmest clip won't stay on. Perhaps the space, marked with red circle, had gotten smaller due improper fitment? I've been trying for couple of months now, so I can't just take it back to the garage, they also had damaged the wheels and caps, so I don't really want to use them again. Thanks.
