Did you replace the Cam sensor that you mentioned you bought?

No, I didn't (yet) because I felt it was more likley to be a temperature issue, there were no ECU errors and I only wanted to change one thing at a time.
If it were the cam sensor, why would it only be when warm?

My next plan of diagnoses is to monitor the ECU/engine temp via Tourque/Bluetooth and see if that shows any anomalies.

Probably a sensible thing to do one at a time.

I don't know exactly why the Cam sensor only affects it when warm, but this was exactly the circumstances I had with mine (started first time when cold, but just stopping for fuel or to nip into shops would lead to 7 or 8 cranking sessions before proper starting would occur).
