Dash dismantling

I'm sure someone must have done this but a search didn't throw up anything obvious:

The new to me, A2 has a nokia car cradle fitted - I removed the radio to get to the Nokia black box - but the wires just dissapeared behind the a/c controls & ashtray - so I'm guessing it must be pretty low down somewhere.

Question is - what's the best way to dismantle the dash to get to this area - can the panel say by the glovebox be removed?

My hunch is that the wiring is going down behind the passenger kick panel. To remove this, flip out the cover in the footwell, near the firewall and oval in shape. Take the screw out (Torx 25) and then get your fingers under the panel near to the seat adjuster (made easier if you remove the carpet to one side) and sharply tug the panel away.

There are only around 4 clips and that single screw holding it in. When it's out, you should have much better access to the wiring.
