Delayed acceleration 1.4 TDI - MAF Sensor ?

My car is at the point now where I fix one problem - another one occurs

Since yesterday I noticed that there is a 1 to 2 second delay until the car accelerates .
No warning lights on the dash and once it starts accelerating, it does so without problems. ( Top speed unchanged)
I found myself fully pressing the accelerator without realising as nothing is happening to then all of a sudden it kicks in full force.

Having done a quick search - could it be the MAF ? Idle is normal
Watched a youtube video of a guy stating that when you disconnect the MAF while the engine is running it should stall - indicating that the MAF is good.
Does this test work on all cars (ours) ? Any other suggestions without scanning the car?

Ideas anyone what else it could be?
Not starting to fiddle with the Maf sensor until I am able to scan the car.

Hi Pras

I know that feeling `one thing fixed..... something else breaks!!

I had a similar problem only I had boost or loss of power at 60 70 mph, thought it was the MAF or a pipe to the turbo in my case the inter cooler was split and needed to be replaced. All sorted now but expensive fix.

I think most A2 s with 100k ish or so have/will need a lot of work doing on them. I `ve spent £1500 on parts and repairs in 6 weeks! My purchase is becoming an expensive one!

Thanks for all suggestions. Scanned it today. No fault codes!
Will have a look under the hood over the weekend.
