DIS 2 blank

Another car I looked at today went blanked when switched to 2. The first one that did I knew had been clocked but are there any other likely reasons? Today's car checks out at Audi but a couple of things about it and then this make me curious.
Hopefully there's anice simple explanation to stop me being so paranoid but I've never seen it happen on a VW :confused:
 
Flick the switch on the bottom of the wiper control and the DIS will come on again. paranoia eased i hope.
 
Ah, am I misunderstanding how it works then? I'm thinking the button on the bottom is for resetting and changing between 1 & 2. When I quickly press the button the display goes blank, is it just turning the display off then? It does come back on when pressed quickly again.
 
I think iot is just a case of familiarity. I had a similar panic not long after i got my A2, I just use the reset to 'zero' the trip mileage when re-fuelling.

I'm used to two memories on VWs and expected it on the A2. Is it just a 'last journey' memory?
