Disabling alarm

Hi, I’ve looked on here and saw a thread from 2019 regarding this, in which several respondents asked why someone would want to disable the alarm?!?
When you take a ferry (right now I’m on Brittany Ferries to Portsmouth) they quite rightly insist on alarms being switched off!
So I’ve used the button on the B pillar but unsure if a heavy sea will still activate it?

You can only do what you can do, if it still goes off in heavy seas, so will others..
I wouldn't worry mate!

Unless you lock the car using the drivers door key slot or press the remote to lock the car this should never happen. Are you sure the remote is not faulty and pressing the lock button on its own? Failing that a CCCU issue could be the problem. A scan is needed

Does the drivers door microswitch work correctly with the interior light and door open on dash display, fuel flap and alarm switch illuminated?

Just tested - if I unlock the door with the remote but don't open the door it will relock itself after a minute but if I open the door and turn the ignition on for a few seconds, then take the key out, shut the door and walk away it stays unlocked.

That is normal. However by turning on the ignition you may have masked the door microswitxh having an issue. When you open the door does the interior light come on and also does it display on the dash. Are the fuel and alarm buttons illuminated and the fuel flap release?

The car is designed to relock itself if a door is not opened after unlocking the car.

Yes, open the door and the interior lights come on, also the clock/date and the odometer/mileometer light up red as usual.
Had it scanned yesterday, faults stored including interior monitoring and CCCU. Unfortunately the garage didn't write the fault codes down, I'll call them back.
I'll try again without turning the ignition on.
Thanks
Trevor

You should ask them to record the codes, then clear them, as any existing codes may well be historical, so no longer relevant.
Do a few lock - unlock, doors open - closed, ignition on - off etc, then scan again. You'll now see what faults are currently present.
Mac.
Then scan again

Yes will do.
As one of the faults was the interior monitoring, thought I'd look at the manual.
Switching it off lights up the diode in the switch and for a few seconds the red light at the top of the door card as the manual says. But then lock the door with the remote and the red light in the door card doesn't flash although the doors are locked.
But with the interior monitoring operative, lock the door with the remote and the red light in the door card flashes as usual and the doors are locked.
Car electrics is one of the dark arts to me ....
I'm getting it read again tomorrow at my local garage - he's got the vag.com software even though his specialist vehicle is the Mazda Bongo.
Thanks again
Trevor
