Do we know this car? LY03 LZH

Hello all,

Looking to get into an FSI - but its not listed on marketplace here! I know I know. Does anyone know of this car? @A2Steve @timmus @Ami

Anyway its just shy of 80k miles and has had the EML off and on for years. Does this lamp come on when regular fuel is used or only when sensors, flaps etc fail.

Many thanks.

James

No fault codes but an EML 🤔

Sorry, missed this one. Where is the EML in the scan report? Did i overlook something? The car has had EML light on and off in the past but the last owner has done all the due diligence he says. The scan file is the proof.
Nah all is well then, it sounded like there was an intermittent engine light showing up, which (unless someone had cleared the codes before you scanned) should leave a residual code(s). But if you were referring to old problems, that have since been resolved, and the codes subsequently cleared then the scan is as it should be

Hi James,

Whilst I remember almost all A2 owners that I’ve ever met, I don’t remember all the cars, nor do I have a complete record of those I’ve seen/touched.
In the words of Manuel from Fawlty Towers, “I know nothing”.

Cheers,

Tom

I think a test drive is in order with a scan afterwards to flag any further issues. Thanks for your help
That is definitely the way to go.
FSIs are meant to be driven enthusiastically. If the vendor isn't willing to "give it some welly" over 4,000 rpm in 3rd is a good test, then think carefully before you do.
Good luck.
Mac.

It's not difficult to get a clean scan on a less than clean engine. Clear codes, don't start the engine, then scan. Look Mum, No Faults.

Cheers Tom. If all goes well I might need to capitalise on your trip down south for some works if that's ok? When are you down next?
I owe @Proghound a message about this very topic.
I would, of course, be happy to meet when I’m next ‘down south’. It is my intention to organise such a trip as soon as I am physically able to do the work, but my recovery from knee surgery is taking longer than expected, meaning no precise dates can yet be set.

I am now able to ride a static bike without any applied resistance for about 20 minutes, and am able to comfortably walk about 500 metres …but going down stairs or squatting next to an A2: absolutely not!

Hopefully I’ll be close to 100% by midsummer. 🤞🏻

Cheers,

Tom

Tom, I'm sorry to hear your recovery has slowed from its initial promise. I hope that isn't going to curtail your planned mountaineering exploits this year ... although the Ultras will all still be there next year of course. At least it sounds like you're still making progress. I've got all summer to be able to host your next residency, whenever you're ready :)
