I am sorry, in my head I had already replied! I would like to register- I live nearby in Hereford so won't need hotels etc. Is this still possible? I will bring my A2 :)
You are on the register, stating it will give you a goal to clean the car 😃

Good afternoon all

With this event now coming closer, I thought it time for an update.

I’ve been in touch with the Elan Valley visitor centre and they are more than happy to host us on the 14th May.

We can have access to the grassed parking area as you enter the visitor centre and there will be hot and cold lunches available at the centre for those looking for something to eat upon our return from the run.

If I could ask that we meet at the visitor centre at 10am (Rhayader LD6 5HP). We can then go for a run up to see the Devils Bridge Falls SY23 3JW which is well worth seeing (lots of steps involved though if you want to do down into the waterfall). We will then head back to the visitor centre along the same road as it gives completely different views on the return trip.

We should be back to have some lunch by around 1pm and mingle and chat until ready to head home mid-afternoon.

Hopefully this appeals to everyone and it should be a good day out.

Are we going to have an area reserved for the cars? I only ask because it can get pretty busy in the carpark! :)

Just rung them for a chat about it and they will be able to accommodate us somewhere 😊

Best that we go into the overflow carpark on the left as you enter the site.

I’ve said to expect 20-25 cars.

We’ll meet there at 10am go for the drive and then come back there for lunch.

This is now getting very close and I must admit I’m really looking forward to it.

The forecast is currently sunny with light rain showers for the day, which given we are on high ground in mid-Wales I’m happy with 😊

Just a couple of things to point out again.

  • Meeting at the Elan Valley visitor centre LD6 5HP at 10am. I’ll wait until 10:30 before setting off on the run, but won’t be keeping tabs of who’s arrived and who hasn’t, so don’t be late :p

  • Never lose sight of the car behind you. If they are drifting back slow down.

You are very unlikely to lose track of the group, it’s hard to misplace 25 A2’s on a B road, but just incase, here’s the route we will be following.

Left at junction out of visitor centre

Vere left at next fork in road

Continue to follow road

Over weak bridge, continue on (don’t turn left)

At next t-junction take left signposted Aberystwyth

At hotel near devil’s bridge falls take a right signposted Llangurig

Over bridge through devil’s bridge falls up hill to carpark on right where we will stop and have a look at the falls.

Head back to visitor centre along the same route for lunch.
