Engine coolant temp sensor

Hi all I have the cool start problems and have a new sensor but as the title says where the hell is it. I'm still trying to find my way around the engine bay. Thanks

If you let us know what engine you have please, because the position varies depending on the engine type.

It is part number 8, so you will find it as part of the thermostat housing

Viewed from the driver seat, the sensor is located, as Steve correctly states, within the thermostat housing on the left side of the engine.
The sensor will typically have a green housing. Advisable to replace the seal at the same time and strongly suggested to use genuine parts - our experience of third party components suggests inaccurate readings and poor fit. Test and adjust the coolant strength accordingly and run the engine to operating temperature to ensure there are no leaks and the gauge reads true.

New sensor fitted code cleared car seems to run smoother and no engine light.
