Hi,
I have a A2 2001 with 1, 4 gas engine AUA that not have working for the 3 last weeks.
The problem started with a stop like lost fire in a roundabout, tow truck was required.
• I have correct fuel pressure and volume flow
• Exhaust pipe with cats are changed
• Injectors are new
• Sparking plugs are new
• Cam position sensor is changed
• Rev sensor is changed
• Compression is OK
• Air inlet incl. shutter housing is checked and cleaned
• Nice spark on all plugs
• Fuel comes to the cylinders
• Battery with13,5 volt
Before I changed the rev sensor I had 2 fault codes the sensor and the EGR valve. At this time I had some misfire both on low and high revs.
After changing the sensor I have not been able to diagnose the fault codes but no engine fault code light in the combo instrument shows.
I got it to start and could rev with no problem but less than 2300 RPM the engine was “rolling” in rev heavily and no idle. When diving I had major problem with jerking accelerator and need to slip on clutch until I reach 2500 RPM on each gear, over that the engine was very nice no misfire at all.
After stopping it I couldn’t restart it, likely to that the starter didn’t have high revs. enough. I have tried with “engine starter spray” direct in the manifold but no fire what so ever.
Does anyone here have an idea about what it can be? The items that I still haven’t changed are the pressure sensor in the manifold and engine management units.
Anyone have info how the engine is controlled on low revs? It’s a Magneti Marelli system.
I’m an old auto technician and working in the auto industry but the last 20 years I haven’t been working so much hands-on with the cars and mainly other brands. I have the electronic workshop manuals and parts books and are able to read them but at this time missing a diagnose tool.
I have read all info in the forum about engine problem but haven’t found the same problem as I have.
