Exterior LED Light modification, save primary bulbs

Yesterday I went back to shop to replace one of the Night breaker bulbs that died pretty quickly to me. I like the light intensity of these bulbs but I will switch back to conventional ones if I need to replace the bulbs frequently. In Finland it is by law you have to have either driving lights switched on while driving or then you could install low-power lights like these:

Has someone fitted these or anything similar to their A2? Maybe someone could recommend me a good choice?

I have them fitted in my headlights - a big job but worthwhile and they were the first headlamp incorporated LED daytime running lights in the UK - beating even the R8 I believe!

I see, they look good! First I was unsure whether s6 lamps would fit to A2 and I didn't consider of putting them to the head lamp unit. Now that I have seen your picture it looks a good place for these light sources. Thanks for sharing!

I checked once again the pictures of the light unit of Audi S6. Is it really this unit you succeeded to fit or the Hella one? To me, S6 seems like a very big unit and in one forum someone claimed the light source is 50 cm long. I would assume it is impossible to fit there without disassembling the led unit for some extent.

Yes, I fitted the S6 units, but you're right - there is a lot of disassembly invlolved.

If you look at the S6, there is a long section at the end that isn't actually lights - you also need to re-make the heatsink to fit it into the headlamp shell.

Basically, all you need from the originals are the reflectors and the pcb, which has the LEDs attached. To this you need to add the custom-made heatsink and then spray the whole lot black.

Cheers,

Mike

OK, now I understand. There is then a lot modification involved! The other thing I'm also worried is local legal terms. I'm not sure if it is allowed to disassemble original light units, let alone put them inside another unit :)
