I am doing quite a bit of traveling and due to regulations, need to carry a fire extinguisher in the vehicle. It seems that a few countries still require this (along with a first-aid kit)Any ideas as to the best place to mount it? The one I purchased is about 35 cm long and 12 cm in diameter.

My company car was always supplied with an extinguisher fixed by the passengers left foot. Not sure how this would fit in an A2, but my company would have stuck it there anyway, even if you couldnt get in!

SOC: click on my sig link below and see where I fitted mine. Just made two holes through the carpet after taking the backing off the rear light (this clips in and out easily). So fitted it there with nuts and bolts.

BUT this position only works if you don't have a rear 6CD changer...

You could always put it under the front floor - unless you have the toos there.

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

How about one of these instead of a red fire extinguisher?

Look at the reviews on the AutoExpress website before you buy (www.autoexpress.co.uk and then Product Reviews and look under the list for Fire Extinguishers). A lot of these nice looking fancy silver ones can only ever be used once! What is the point? Especially as you can get one that can be refilled for the same price!!!

Personally I would have the brushed alloy one, It may be a one use only thing but it looks way better than a red one. As the saying goes everyone has different tastes.

Yes true... but if you just had an accident, you're unconcious and trapped in your car, the first person on scene is not going to look for a brushed alloy canister hidden under the seat is he? He/she will probably look for something phallic and red! :D Though undoubtably beautiful, the extinguishers above look more like something from a bar...

I agree with the comments that a non-red extinguisher will most likely be ignored and therefore rendered useless in an emergency. In addition, in many countries extinguishers must be red.The ones shown would be illegal.Mounting under the floor is good, except for requirements that it be "easily accessable" in an emergency. Don't know if that would apply. The footwell is accessible, but significantly detracts from both looks and comfort. What would be nice would be a sliding bracket using the area under the seat. However, I don't know how practical that would be either.Bottom line is that the extinguisher is in the rear compartment except when travelling in certain countries, where then it is moved to the open part of the baggage compartment.

Only problem in an A2 is that the floor on both sides under the front seats are actually storrage areas full of computers or compressors and things in my case... so I'm not sure if there is actually enough space between this "hatch" and the seat if this is pushed as far forward as it can go for an extinguisher...
