First A2, but not good start

I have the same problem with my girl friends A2 1.4 Petrol sport 2002 BBY engine. I have had the fuel filter replaced aswell. Has the same issue as yours but always does it around 1/4 of a tank left... just spent over £1k on servicing... cambelt, water pump and oil filter etc etc, so currently just living with the problem
 
Hi,

I would like to say that this has cured my problem I have of the engine cutting out when the fuel tank is half full. After changing the fuel filter and having it at two garages who couldn't find the problem it was down to the fuel collector being dirty. Since cleaning it I had two full fill ups with no problems.
At the end a very easy fix, would recommend everyone to check this and clean if needed.
