Just had our first service on the A2, which included the oil (£44 + VAT), filters etc and removal/replacement of the front bumper as some clips were broken.
All in price of £324.
When we arrived, the car hadn't been washed so we waited around until it was as they said it'll only take 10 minutes. One hour later we were ready to go after being assured the book had been stamped.
Guess what - no stamp.
Maidstone Audi - must try harder.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a Merlot Red 1.4SE petrol originally.
Now an Ebony Black 1.4SE petrol with Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

I have just been quoted £185 + VAT for a second service from an independant specialising in Merc, Beemers, Audi and Volvo. They assure me that they are equipped for the A2. My first service was £345.75, so it's a tempting offer. Any comments?
I also saw that my Local VW main dealer is advertising to service Audis for roughly the same price, Well ...from£175 +

My only comment is that £185 + VAT is more than I paid at a main dealer for a first service - what do they do in a second service that's not in the first?

Daveyjp, Kick the tyres and not much else.
What did they do in the first service for £345.75? They changed the oil, filter and brake fluid.
That would have taken me less than an hour when fit, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say 2 hours at,say, £100 per hour. That's still not £345.75. Heavy choking sound from me, that's more than my pension for a week, well almost. They also treat me in a condescending manner and refuse to do the MOT 'cos they can earn more money doing "real work". I have an arm full of engineering qualifications, served as a stoker and electrician in the Royal Navy, that means I worked on ALL types of engine, followed by a career as a very senior engineering manager with a vast international company, and some idiot in a suit, sorry service consultant, talks to me as if I just came up with the mushrooms last night.
You are right I am not happy with them, I get treated well at Volvo, Ford, Nissan, all our family cars, what's so different about Audi?

My first VSI service cost £338 at Martins (Basingstoke). The car is always washed and you do get treated well. I got an A6 TDi as a courtesy car! They also do free MOTs for as long as you own the car, but I suspect they hope to sell to sell me a "new" one before an MOT is due (July). Unfortunately 1.6 FSi are no longer available in UK. Are they still listed elsewhere?

My A2 had its first service last week at my local dealers Exeter Audi. (Formerly Vincents).

Full service inc all the usual fluids, filters etc. Plus new wiper blade fitted and re-fitting of a bit of loose interior trim. £221 (plus a few pence).

I'm well chuffed! The service from the dealership was excellent. My A2 was washed and hoovered to a very acceptable level. Even the alloys had gotten a good going over. The log book was stamped and everything was as it should be.

Best of all, the variable service intervals mean that I wont be needing to go back for another 24 months or 27,000 miles!

Exeter Audi - 10/10.

The only question is, why was my first service a good £100 less than some of yours?!

This whole issue of excesive charges needs more publicity I think. It's about time the dealers charged fairer rates. I know professional engineers with PhDs that charge their time per hour less that some dealers!

This seems strange to me. Surely dealerships that are operating under franchise should be charging what the the franchise owner dictates?

I'm sure that if my local McDonalds starting charging extra for their pre-chewed abatoir sweepings, then Mr Ronald McDonald ceo would take them to task?! [4]

OK, poor example. But the point is surely the same? If I was 'Mr Audi', then I would be very concerned to hear of the significant differences in the costs charged by my franchised dealers. After all, this practice makes my product, Audi cars, more expensive for my customers to own and is therefore sure to eat into my sales figures?

Me no understand. [30]

I agree with you Phil. Since owners no longer have to service their car at the franchise dealer to maintain the warranty it will help lower these prices I hope.
