recently in the past 2 weeks whenever i put the climate control on to warm/demist the cabin a strong smell i can only describe as the smell you get from the ice in the back of a freezer comes through the vents,it does it in normal or "econ" mode, has anyone else had this problem ???

Not entirely sure, but your aircon unit could do with a clean? Every now and again I use one of those aerosol sprays from Halfrauds and it seems to get rid of the smell.

Just make sure you do not need to drive too soon after using the cleaner.
I used an Autoglym aircon sanitiser and followed the directions on the can.
Even after airing the car for 30 mins after completing the cleaning process the car was quite rich with solvents.

I normally drive with it set to 22*c and on auto, this setting is meant to use the compressor/air-con even at that temp,so i use aircon all year round.

Just one tip with running the car on AUTO you may find on scans a fault may come of fan motors as they tend to stick, i was given the tip of also cycling the screen middle and feet every so often just keep them free from sticking

ive ordered some air-con sanitiser now, will try this then report back, also going to look at the pollen filter incase that needs replacing, and the bonnet drain mouths also.

all fixed now £6 for air-con refurb spray, and the pollen filter hoovered and refitted, sorted.

You should never clean and refit a pollen filter. You wouldn't believe the bacteria that lives in them and i hope you didn't breath any of it in. Just replace it with a new one.
