Front Suspension Part Name Help!

Hi all,

I need a new drivers front control arm and also the part circled in red on my 2002 1.4 TDi, what’s this called please?!

Thank you. The mechanic said that the bolt holding the front control arm to this was just spinning

The thread can be repaired and the mechanic should know how to do it if you do not replace the console.

For the control arm the pressed ones are the same part number left and right but make sure that you get the correct side console as they are completely different.

As you can see below, 8Z0199293R is the left console, and 8Z0199294R is the right console.

N10141801 is the M12x1.5x100 bolt.

These parts fit all 1.4TDI models, ie. engine codes AMF, BHC, and ATL.

Thanks so much all, sounds like perhaps just a front control arm and a new mechanic ?

I would apply a few drops of oil to that bolt when fitting it to a new or repaired console, because steel bolts screwed into aluminium will be prone to seizing...as you can see on the German A2 forum.

The German A2 forum suggest that new consoles are available for about 155 Euros each.

Querlenker Tausch = epic fail

Aufgrund der gammelnden Querlenker aus Blech wollte ich auf die Gußlenker umstellen. Das hätte ich mal besser gelassen. Während die Schraube auf der linken Seite vom Schlagschrauber locker gelöst werden konnte, funktionierte das rechts schon mal nicht. Da ich aber nicht so schnell aufgeben wollte...

In case you are looking for a secondhand console, the consoles used on the 1.4 petrol models, the 1.6 petrol models, and the 1.2TDI models, have different part numbers, so they might not fit the 1.4TDI versions.
