FSI inlet cleaner?

Use top quality 98/99 octane fuel and oil, and fouling of the flaps should not be a problem.
Based on my experience, I agree with this. When my car had the injectors done earlier in the year there was no carbon build-up worth mentioning. That was after at least 8 years and 50k+ miles of my ownership (looks like it may have been looked at before that but I don't have an invoice).

I always fill up with 99 octane fuel, and change the oil with Mobil 1 5w30 whenever the car asks.

P1031 was still illuminating the dash, however. It took a Pro Boost ECU to get rid of that!

Thanks guys

Agreed that we want best quality 99 octane and good oils..! Both our FSIs are run in this way, and both have proboost.

It was just something that I came across, specifically (allegedly!) for this type of direct injection system and wondered if it was beneficial and whether anyone had used it. Possibly recovering a mildly contaminated system for those that don't have proboost...?

That said, I am chasing a persistent cyl 2 misfire on the most recent of the 2 cars (only had it a few weeks). Have picked up a complete set of new (Bosch) coils and Denso (iridium) plugs and plan just to swap the lot out when I have a moment.! Although it's had a lot of work done to it (and the flaps all seemed to work before I fitted proboost), it's almost certainly not been fed with the best juice...!

Kind regards

Pete

If your running ProBoost now and previously there was no sign of flap problems, then I'd not worry. A little bit of build up on the inlet walls is not going to affect air flow to any significant level.
