The suspension is a little hard, however it helps give the car its superb road holding. Do you and your friend have the 17" wheels?
The 16's make for a slightly smoother ride.

yep 17", fills the arches out and looks cool, but not to sure about improving the road holding. Can sometimes be a bit of a myth and more of a fashion statement. Steering is never as quick with the larger wheels as you have more unsprung weight. I want to swap to standard size and take it for a whizz to see if road hoilding and steering varies. Have you tried the two sizes

The suspension is a little hard, giving superb road holding, independantly of the wheel size. I agree the 17's look good, however I personally prefer the 16's.

My A2 did that too (coke can)!. But that was on a standard 1.4 petrol, where the dealer forgot to take out the front suspension packing on the PDI and the suspension travel was about zilch!....

I'm used to driving a car with coilovers on which is really bumpy. So the sports set up on the a2 is perfect for me, I don't like to softer ride. And the 17" wheels really do look the part although they are a bit of a nightmare to clean properly.
