FSI/TDI90 Rear caliper replacement... tips

Excellent choice with Brembo, have fitted Brembo to a couple of my cars and on the A4 tdi they outlasted gen Audi discs at least 3 to 1

On holiday last week having a curry in Lyme Regis as you do, got speaking to the table next to us all retired. One of the guys had a 3 year old BMW with only 27k miles he bought new, and it already needs new discs because they are worn below the limit. OEM nowadays for brake discs and pads is terrible compared to how they used to be.
I agree, superb quality

Here is a close up before I greased the pad backs and installed the new caliper

Did you grind down your carrier before you installed your new pads? That is the most important thing to do when renewning brakes in my opinion; otherwise the new pads just gets stuck.

Just replaced all 4 brake discs and pads on my 2007 Touran; after 11 years and 110’miles. Funny thing is that the pads could have lasted for another 11 years as they were still 5-7mm left. However the discs were rusted totally.

Very good experience with Bosch brake parts myself. Bosch are also coated; not just painted as Brembo, TRW etc

Ive got 2 1.6fsi a2s with a sticking right rear calipers. Bought two calipers off Ebay for £59.95 delivered. Changed one already and is working well. No problem with the banjo bolt. Used a socket that works on the flat of the bolt rather than the corner.

I am beginning to think my FSI rear calipers are not Audi or OEM compatible. I have looked for Audi rings without success and with the wierd M12x1.0 banjo thread I am thinking something is funny.

When you put the other caliper on can you take note of the banjo thread and post the size.

Also are your new calipers TRW with the Audi rings obviously ground off. If so can you post a link for the eBay seller you used.

Thanks - Andy

Great job FHL. That banjo gave you grief but the new calipers look great.
I replaced my rear discs and pads with the Brembo uv coated 08.7165.11

. My old ones weren’t worn out just looked tatty and rusty!
The A2 is a dream to work on, the bolts hadn’t been touched in 14 years and all came undone, nothing seized or damaged, cleaned up and reassembled, job done.
Euro Car Parts were doing an excellent deal just £29 for the discs and £13 for the pads, awesome!

Apologies to KekseKaempfer and FHL. I got you posts a little muddled and both your calipers look great.
I read loads of A2 stuff yesterday, which as always was really interesting so I thought I add my rear brake pics.
I cleaned and regreased the pins, really important job, I did this even though they were still super smooth after all those years. High quality silicone greases used which also protects the rubber boot.
