Fuel consumption

A2 Fuel Economy (not)

Just come back from a trip to Leeds and back from Manchester, in my A3 courtesy car (2.0 TDi DSG S-Line) and it's averaged 49mpg!

It's heavier than an A2, it's less streamlined, has a bigger engine and is far pokier, but yet it equals my Tdi 90 Sport! Where's the sense/justice in that?

Skipton,
had a similar experience with an A3 sportback FSI Sport down to Hinkley & back going Woodhead pass & M1 returning via Chesterfield and that was getting 38mpg which for a car like that is frankly astonishing really, that 6th gear really helped I'm sure, found myself tyrying to get int 6th in my A2 when it came back!

Today's drive, Rushden, Bicester, Banbury, Nottingham, Rushden, 234 miles, mucked about a bit, stayed within 10% of the limit (ish) no nun driving, 59 mpg.

I get 62 mpg out of most tanks, climate on auto, 21.5 degrees, sidelights always on, Bose always on!!

Oh and I always run the fuel to 0 miles on the dis, I get 38-40 litres in at refill twice a week!!

Hi,

We have a 1.4 tdi, and drive it mainly on dual carriageways and some city driving. We generally drive slowly.

We are getting worse mpg than the 1.3 yaris (average 38mpg) we had which is a shame as we paid the premium for this car and we thought we would get a slight offset from better fuel consumption.

We are currently doing a full tank test and if it doesnt seem to get better we will be dropping it off at Audi for a check up

So is there any idea why our car is giving us such poor fuel consumption?

well I get an average of 65-70 mpg my journey to work is 39 each way with some stop start at traffic light and motorway I dont drive like I`m 90 years old but I dont thrash it either the one thing I never have done and that is go over 3.5k revs and use the cruise on motorways set at 68mph( Mike fitted it for me thank`s again) hope this helps in your mpg disscussion

After one month ownership of a 1.4 TDI I am getting 50MPG on short urban journeys and recently got around 60MPG on a trip to and around Devon. Averaging 55MPG so far on sensible but not boring driving style. Compares well against my previous Insight MPG figures.
