Hi
I'm looking for some suggestions as to where to start looking to solve an intermittent problem on a 1.6 FSI. At random intervals, the red brake warning light in the DIS cluster will light up along with 3 chimes. At the same time, the ABS, EPC and ESP warning light also come on and the car looses all power. The revs are limited to about 1500 rpm. Pulling over, turning the ignition off and restarting clears the problem and the car then behaves as it should (well it's a 1.6 FSI so it has a semi regular P0304 error - misfire on cylinder 4). Sometimes this problem won't recur for a few hundred miles, but on Saturday, I had 4 occurrences within 1/2 mile. Then I drove for 200 miles without any issues. Braking is unaffected by this problem. At about the same time as this problem started, the oil level sensor fault is displayed. I've has my local Audi specialist read out the error codes. We got the usual P0304 misfire, errors for the oil level sensor, but no others were stored. One thing I've just noticed from the photos I've taken is that this fault only appears to occur when the engine is cold. The photo shows the warning lights illuminated.
Has any one suffered with this previously and if so how was it fixed?
Many thanks, Robert
