G62 temerature sender alternative

Thanks for your help again, just to update you I changed the green sensor on the end of the block and all is well now. It turned out to be less awkward than I anticipated as there wasn't that much in the way just a small bracket to drop off and then I had a clear view of it, I bought a new sensor and o ring and had them ready for a quick swap over, I filled the coolant top up tank to the top and put the lid back on to try and create a bit of vacumn it worked out quite well as I only lost enough coolant to take it back down to about the right level. I still don't realy know what the other sender is (the one in the bottom hose) from what ive read it could be something to do with the control of the air con or auxilary heater.

Thanks Roger

Hi,
What is being refered to as a temperature sensor at the foot of the radiator is probably the "radiator fan switch" which works on the temperasture of the coolant.

I've tried to change the temperature sensor on the side of the engine block without draining the entire coolant by removing the hose from the bottom of the radiator. But I ended up with coolant all over, even though I released the pressure and replaced the cap. Does filling the tank to the top really work?
