Going for the full Koni FSD suspension upgrade- any parts missing off this list?

I don't know 100% and was really surprised. I assume it's because there's more resistance to roll and then most of the weight is on the front wheels anyway, meaning that movement which was pushed towards the ARB now has to be taken up by springs / shocks. As they bed in, the effect slows down, but still, it has most definitely been there for me. Besides, it's the *other* connection between the suspension strut and the body at the mid point.

interesting. I'm on my old droplinks which the garage said there was play and that caused the odd clunking sound over speed hump. Bought new droplink, failed to release on of them and tightened everything back and the clunk was gone. I've got a set of newer designed droplinks which I might pop them on later and see if it makes a difference to the ride!

Dan, droplinks are easy. My old design requires 2 spanners (one to stabilize, one to turn), the newer design is one spanner with the other side being a torx bit.

Just a quick question about the suspension upgrade, I have a broken spring and dodgy drivers side shock but dont have the money to upgrade the full suspension and dont want to replace with standard shock. Is it safe enough to do the front two shocks and lowering springs first (biltstien b8 and weitec -30 front)? I have already replaced the ARB, Bushes, droplinks, and will be doing the others hopefully when i am doing the back two shocks.

Brett, thanks for the very informative post. Lots of food for thought! Ok, what I've done is ordered a set of Meyle droplinks (£39.99 for a pair from a supplier on ebay) and also this little lot that was suggested in a previous thread on this subject. The prices are from my local Audi dealer in Pompey:

8Z0 511 149 A - rear, bottom spring yellow PUR rubber seat (2 pieces) £4.79 + vat each
1J0 512 149 B - rear, top spring black hard-rubber seat (2 pieces) £2.88 + vat each

1J0 513 425 A - dust protection tube for the rear damper piston rod (2 pieces) £4.96 + vat each

N 102 861 10 - nut (2 pieces) £0.48 + vat each
N 104 018 01 - nut (2 pieces) £1.58 + vat each
N 905 173 02 - screw (2 pieces) Supersedes to N90517304 £1.19 + vat each
N 906 484 02 - screw (4 pieces) £1.72 + vat each
N 909 081 01 - nut (2 pieces) Supersedes to N90908102 £1.99 +vat each

So, I'm just left with the struts and the springs to order. I've looked at the Bilstein B6 option, but I'm leaning towards the Koni FSD's as so many people on here seem to have positive opinions about them. Springs are something else. Rightly or wrongly I'm going to fit the 9 spoke 17" Sport wheels, purely on looks to be honest.

I think it's pretty clear that if I go down this road I'm going to have a very firm ride, so I'm wondering if there's a halfway house where I can calm things down a little- maybe standard SE springs all round? I might even be able to re-use what I've got on at the moment if I go for this option.

The alternative I think is either Sport springs all round or the Eibach +30/00 option, which I understand now is Eibach's at the front with SE or Sport's at the rear?

How hard a ride am I going to get with FSD's, 17" wheels and the Eibach option? Boneshaker or nice firm ride? Difficult one as everyone's ride preference is different I guess....

I think Eibach stopped making A2 springs a while ago so the popular choice for lowered springs is Weitec. If you decide to stay with SE spec springs, Spidan are considered to be better quality than Audi. They make two versions for the TDi, depending if you have the (heavy) Open Sky roof.
Not tried them but this supplier looks promising - http://seekpart24.com/audi/a2-8z0-00/1-4-tdi-9876/coil-springs-100113

Ok, cheers Spike. I'll weigh things up re the springs but as personal preferences vary it's going to be a bit of a guess really....
