I just used Dow Corning 781 in black. Apply the mastic then spray with a water/fairy liquid solution and smooth with your finger dipped in fairy liquid.
Got a wet boot and the vents are cracked, I can't find them locally so going to go form lots of sealant and see how it goes. Where can people get them from as I can't source them - 4A0819181AYou don't necessarily need new vents but you could try sealing the old ones. Photo of a sealed vent here:
Latest mod - rear parking sensors
As we got a new rear bumper from A2Steve in the correct colour to replace the scratched one we had i purchased the Cobra sensor kit To compliment my sons A2 whilst the bumper was off, it came with painted sensors in Azur blue. Still looks available from Audi/TPS, seems to be used on the Q7. Choice on eBay as well.Got a wet boot and the vents are cracked, I can't find them locally so going to go form lots of sealant and see how it goes. Where can people get them from as I can't source them - 4A0819181A
ordered one from Audi Preston, my bodge repair did not work and even with sealing all around the vents it leaked so it must be getting in some where through the vent flaps or casing.Still looks available from Audi/TPS, seems to be used on the Q7. Choice on eBay as well.

I am breaking a car can remove it if you like,So the vents are in and the battery compartment is no longer wet but the trim above the battery compartment is. I think the right hand boot channel got broken when there was a rear shunt in the past and it’s dropping in somewhere from that.
Part is outlined in yellow and it’s cracked where it’s outlined in red.
Cheers for the advice. I’ll start at the top and work my way down adding grasses to each of the points of water access to see what might be allowing water in to wet the trim but not into the battery compartmentThe only holes in the back of the car are where the electric cables run through at the top, the tail light hole, the vents lower down behind the back bumper and a small grommet in the same area for cars with PDC rear bumpers.
There won't be a leak because of that black plastic panel.
I've got a slight dampness which could be condensation but I wonder if the light cluster needs a check and I'll lubricate & clean the seals to make sure the seal is good. Are you sure it is not getting in past the light cluster? Have you tried to adjust the tailgate position? No silly springs on the gas struts are there?
