Well it did seem strange it not being there! It's previous (brief) owner (Mark) has massively embellish it to a near perfect condition. The work consisted of a complete and thorough brake overhaul, oil-change, M.O.T., attention to paintwork, interior re-trimming, new headlining, carpets, front service flap, wheels/tyres, brand new headlights, boot lining ..... I've probably missed something! It looks truly stunning! Anyway, the only negative is the difficult gear change from 5th down to 4th gear. I might fit the MYP gear box ....
I need to ask for some help from you. please, I went to lower the service flap .... I pulled the lever and the flap stayed shut. I tried to use gentle force but it remained firmly shut. Please advise as to how to get the flap open so that I can then remove the bonnet.

Flat bladed screwdriver. Give the service flap lever a good pull. Then go to the front of the car and using your fingertips, pull the flap forwards from the centre until you can see where the catch goes into the area where it should release from. Insert the screwdriver here and very gently lever the handle leftwards using the tip as a fulcrum while still applying forward pressure to the flap. The whole flap should move very slightly leftwards and then release - my project car needs help like this most times. Once I realised it was an issue I loosened the catch off to give slightly more finger purchase while still closing enough to ensure the alarm switch is depressed when the catch is engaged. Obviously it is possible to be a great deal more brutal than this, but gentle pressure should work and this method would probably suffice for all except the most stubborn panels without causing harm.

Great looking car in front of a spectacular sea view.

Erm… I thought you’d moved on from A2s David?!

It's back and it's S.O.R.N.'d. A previous car I'd had for a long time (a Mercedes 190) stood unused just where the A2 is now for 8 Years! This has a while to go to catch up to that! I'm going to fix that gear-change as a priority. The best solution would be an MYP gearbox .... I do have a superior, brand-new column, though which I could fit. My new Dacia Sandero Bi-fuel is running perfectly. I can genuinely travel over 150 miles for the equivalent cost of a gallon of diesel. It's superior to the A2 in lightness of clutch action, smoothness of gearchange and cabin space. The steering is lighter, too. It goes over bumps and road imperfections with ease. Negative is road noise and "tinnyness" It's still an obvious "modern" car. If my A2 had been a petrol engined A2, then I'd have been on my way to convert it to LPG. That would lead to phenomenal fuel economy! I could have also dreamed about an electric conversion! A2 ownership offers three intriguing and unique benefits, I.M.H.O.. That's the aluminium body, the fantastic panoramic glass roof and finally being a member of this vibrant, friendly and helpful A2OC club! Oh well, lets see how it goes .... I wonder if it's possible to be buried in it? :)

With you on the new cars feeling tinny, seems they just can't get the feel right where as the a2 did.

Almost everything else is better! The Dacia Sandero is the cheapest car in the U.K. at £8000 for the base model. The Sandero that i purchased was the "Comfort" spec and cost £12,300. That's about half of the list price for similar size cars in the Vauxall, Ford, Peugot, VW and Audi ranges. They have to cut SOME corners for that price and sound-deadening is one of them! Oh, one further area to mention .... crash protection isn't as good as it could be, too!. Incidentally, second-hand Dacias like mine with 5-6,000 miles on the clock are currently selling for £1500-£2500 MORE than the list price! (Just look on Ebay) Amazing!

It's a mad market right now, I would cash in and use a2 then buy again later. I know they are better in terms of refinement if controls I've got a few newer ones myself my problem is the emotional attachment to driving links to an era the a2 sits in and I can't attach to the new feels and sounds so I get bored and I drive them without care for mechanicals etc. Odd isn't it humans and machines, we are illogical in that respect. Glad you like the dacia the value is incredible really is. Is it dark blue by any chance? ? post a pic next to audi
