Half beam & main beam confusion

Please don't laugh but I'm unfamiliar with these English terms, What's the difference? Is the half beam the one used when travelling on roads with regular traffic and main beam the light used when travelling "alone" in the dark on the road with little or no other traffic? If so, is it possible to just switch the two half beam bulbs for a pair of Philips Blue Vision Ultrablue, and leave the two main beam bulbs as is?

Yes you are correct the "half beam bulbs" are dipped and are used for regular driving the main beam bulbs are just that theay are for the dark roads when nothing else is around.

Yes the bulbs are seperate and can be changed, just make sure you get the dipped beam ones.. there is a link from the main A2OC website for bulbs.

To wrap it all up:

Dipped beam is when you turn the headlights on.
High beam or main beam is when the little blue signal appears between the dials.

I have the philips Visionplus fitted. And they are much nicer, the light is more white instead of blue and it really does have about 20% more output.

Blue-greenish headlights is something I link to Halfords-Honda-Civics...
