Hello All,
I recognise a few user names from other forums I frequent so hello to those as well as others.
Bit of a back story...
Like so many other cars the A2 has always been a car of interest for me, I've looked at them a few times over the years but they've never fitted my needs/budget...
My (our) garage comprises a nice car for daily and long distance duties, a cheap car for running around town, leaving at the train station and for carrying car parts for my third track car.
We had an Octavia VRS for a few years, nice and cheap, not much maintenance needed and did us proud for I think three years before we sold it, excellent budget motoring. We then replaced it with a Mondeo diesel that looked a good, honest car, hoping for another two or three years of low cost motoring.
Fast forward a little less than a year and I was faced with a hefty failure list come MOT time so I decided to cut my losses and sold it for £90 as spares or repairs.
So I was very much undecided about which way to go with the second car, cheap(ish) lease on a Polo GTI was the first idea, I then moved onto a not so cheap m135i and had started leaning towards some more 'banger'nomics when I saw the 'shed' feature in Pistonheads...
I went straight to Auto Trader, quickly found what looked to be a very well maintained, well looked car with a well written advert that was cheap due to its high mileage.
For the mostly short trips we would be doing a petrol would suit better (not to mention I'm a bit scared of diesel-turbos going wrong), and the 1.4 looked a more likely option as cheaper cars.
The car I found fitted the bill and so it was soon arranged that we would go and have look at the weekend...
All was exactly as advertised, the seller was the perfect gent and said all the right things about maintaining and understanding cars, so we bought it!
I must admit I'm not really into the way A2s look but that has never stopped me with other cars I have owned, for me it's more about the design and function of the car though I do think the A2 looks more modern and significantly smarter than its price tag would suggest.
I gave the car a good clean inside yesterday as well as investigating the rear seat removal and extra storage space in the boot. I must say I'm pretty chuffed with it, I think I've got a corker for the money.
I've joined the forum as I always like to tinker a little so it will be good to read about little improvements I can make and maintenance I need to keep on top of.
Cheers, Matt
