Help request - new a2 with intermittent fault

Hi there, I'm new to the forum having bought our first a2 last week - what a great design! It's a 2004 1.4se petrol. For all I love about it, this one's got a intermittent fault
It judders a lot on driving and cuts out intermittently at lower speeds. At points a number of fault lights have come on (eps, abs etc) and on further inspection the dominant fault code seems to be p1553. It's recently had a new egr valve fitted, and I was told it might be the throttle body (it had it's breathers cleaned recently apparently)
Anyone have any experience of this or able to help? We're based in bath but down in Chichester for the weekend! Any tips would be useful!
Thanks, Daniel

Hi Daniel

Are you able to scan the car and post the VCDS codes on this thread. It might well be that a clean of the throttle body could be in order. The EGR does need adapting when changed which might not have been done and indeed the throttle body will need adaption if you take this out to clean. Anyway a full scan with all the codes will be a useful starting point. I would recommend that you clear the codes and then re scan after taking it for a spin which should eliminate any codes that are spurious and historic and leave the persistent codes that are currently being thrown

Hi there, I don't have the means of scanning it unfortunately - info posted was thanks to someone at Kwik fit! He cleared all historic faults but on restarting this one (p1553) persisted. Not sure if that helps?

Good morning Daniel.

There happens to be a very good Audi Specialist in Bath. VASS down on the Brass Mills Estate. They really do know what the're about.

Give them a ring, good luck.

Best wishes,

Simon

Hi

OK, now worries, it sounds like @simon martyn has suggested the most appropriate course of action for you for now

Best Wishes

Thanks Mac, is this a simple procedure (I'm no mechanic!) Thanks, Daniel
Needs VCDS, (licensed version). There are quite a few members in your neck of the woods. Bristol, Keynsham, etc.
Have look at the free scan map, see who's about, local to you.
Mac.
