Help have a dilema, have got a slow puncture on our new A2 with 17" sport wheels due a flat spot on the rim probably due to a pothole.

I have rang Carrick Engineering & they will repair & refinish all four for £170inc but obviously I will have to send them so wil be without while they are being done, could be done inside of a week.

I know I will have to get it repaired or replaced but what are the options available if I want to fit "winter wheels" & leave the alloys until the spring time.

I am looking for the most cost effective solution.

Thanks

Buy some cheap 15" wheels on fleabay (pepperpots are popular). Need to be 5x100 PCd and aprox 35-38mm ET which means there are plenty of VW/audi/Skoda/SEAT wheels which will do including steel rims. That will give you good opportunity for some sensible priced winter boots and improve the ride into the bargain!

Yep, as Adrian says, buy some cheap 15s, or even 16s off ebay and slap winter tyres on them (be quick on the winter tyres, prices are going up daily) and while they're on, get your existing wheels refurbed. Job done.

Had a look at ebay & to be quite honest I am overwhelmed with the options, do you have any recommendations to narrow it down.

We have also got an Allroad so we will not be stuck in the winter but as the A2 has a wheel problem I thought I may look at winter wheels as it is also going to need two tyres fairly soon, I know I will need to get those at some point but I am sure that winter tyres will wear & be better & give us better economy overall but at how much initial outlay.
