How to buy a 1.2 TDi?

Hi....Maybe this is more of a question to Ecoangel....but I'd happily accept feedback from other members.

I bought my new A2 TDi (90) back in September, expecting to keep it 3-4 years. A few months ago I was offered to relocate to France, for a minimum period of 2 years. My plan is just to take my car over to France.....my new European wide insurance is more than twice my current quote sadly. But I've this idea in the back of my head. When I bought the car I really wanted the 1.2 TDi, but sadly they didn't do it in LHD. But now I'm going to France a LHD would be ideal. What's the best way of getting hold of a 1.2 TDi and part-exchanging my current car with minimal fuss and expense?

Also what are the genuine real-world mpg figures for the 1.2? I know my 1.4 TDi is quoted as averaging 65mpg, but actually I get nearer 60mpg.

The one who has the most knowledge about the 1.2 in the Uk surely is Lukas, "ecoangel" here on the forums...
Other than that, over here in Germany there are quite a few 1.2s to be had at the moment (mostly with 3-10000 kms on it), and if you are in France, you can surely pick one up over here...

Do you know roughly what you pay for 1-2 year old 1.2 TDi?

As far as I could see with a quick check at www.mobile.de and www.autoscout24.de, Prices start at around EUR 14500 for 2-year-old 1.2s....

Your best bet is to visit www.audi.de/gebrauchtwagen

enter the required spec ie: A2, 1.2 ltr engine, servo lenkung (power steering), air con, colour etc - you'll get a list of Audi approved s/h cars - there's even a europe wide search available.

That's how I got my car. Email me for more info.

I'd be happy to do it again (thinking of getting another one for my dad anyhow) - might even part with my 1.2 for the right price!. (Can supply new headlamps and Speedo for European use)

Hey, Lukas - the 1.2 will still do 95-100mph on the autobahn? That's impressive! Perhaps Audi should have sold it in the UK...
