The ECU is the thing with 2 plugs coming out of it (the silver box at the bottom).
To release it, just slide it out and release the plugs (TDi models) or if you've got a petrol, you'll have to release the 2 clips (1 either side), which are easily felt by putting a finger in alongside the silver box.
Cheers,
Mike
I have a video on my phone that shows me removing the ECU, with a full verbal description of exactly how to do it.Bloody thing. It's child proof/idiot proof and can't find a video to help me.
Please send me tha video mate, i will pm you now, TaI have a video on my phone that shows me removing the ECU, with a full verbal description of exactly how to do it.
I'm not sure whether I can post videos straight to A2OC or whether they need to be hosted by a site such as YouTube. However, if you use Whatsapp, I can send it straight to anyone who sends me their number via a private message.
Cheers,
Tom
you say that .. I tried and failed repeatedly to unclip a tdi ECU until I eventually found @timmus ' video highlighting the need to depress the clip that you can feel (but not see) once you know where it is.. came close to breaking it before that point!you are not the first to break the ECU clip & wont be the last, I have broken at least 2 that I remember, If I remember correctly they were both from the 1.6 Fsi, the tdi is much easier to remove.
