Intercooler replacement - Am i missing a vaccuume tube ?

I don't know why the hose connector is there but did you poke a piece of wire down it to make sure its actually blocked off.

no i didnt, did try blowing down the new one without much luck but will try on the broken one
Car is flying again though so it was leaking pritty badly, especially noticable when pulling away from a stop
 
I recall this from when 4Rings replaced the intercooler on my cousin's A2 last year - I'm pretty sure that that connector is blanked off and you don't need it for the A2, but it's there because it's a common IC for other VAG models which have an additional boost-sensor feed.
