Intercooler swap out & 5mm Diameter pipe going nowhere

I am about to replace the intecooler on a 1.4 TDi (lower joint split)
There is a 5mm dia pipe connection at the bottom with no pipe on it and no obvious place for one to go to - nothing flapping in the breeze either. Probably been like it for the two years I have owned the car.
Any guidance on where it is supposed to be routed to, or is it a blank only used for certain models.
I am hoping this will poss cure the intermittent (and random) power loss the car is subject to - unfortunately its starting to turn into a very unreliable car.
 
Yeah that was my post last month
Although the intercooeler is an A2 part that pipe is very much blocked off
Since doing mine last month I would recommed getting some new hose clips, my two lower clips where a right pain to get off ( especially without Vags tool )
So might have bent them a bit, so I have a bit of oil weaping from the joint / clip thus a small leak
Plan to put the car up the ramp soon and replace them with new clips
But the car really does go well again : )
