Intermittent bulb fault.....

Hi guys,

I am getting an intermittent bulb fault on my DIS. When the fault appears, the rear brake light (drivers side) does not work; but when the fault is not there the bulb works fine.

Any thoughts...

ps: I have not had a chance to get a diagnostics machine connected to the car and see if a fault appears.

Hi I would swap the bulb for a new one. As I suspect it has a broken element or is loose in the holder. Cheers mike
 
I agree with Sumo; check the bulb is the right base. The 2 pins on the bayonet cap that lock it into the lampholder can be at different heights, resulting in the conductors having a poor connection. My old S3 had exactly the same problem, and when I checked the drivers side bulb against the passenger side I noticed the slight difference.
