Around 4 hours @ 55/hour? That sounds OK to me...

Craig,
I would say that is more than fair
I recently changed the clutch on my TDI myself, it is a straight forward job to do, nothing complicated in fact quite 'old school', but it is a good 8 to 10 hours of work.
I've not yet changed the belt/tensions/water pump, but it is coming up and will need doing next year.
Can you get a price for the work less the clutch please as I may well just pay a trustworth garage to do the job, it looks tight to get at everything with the engine in the car (it must be doable, but still tight on room)
I assume you will be fitting a 'Gates' belt and tensioner

Cheers,

I've just had one done and it was £360 including parts and that includes the special hydraulic tensioner which is quite pricey on its own as I remember.

Wow that's mega money , I got a clutch , slave and flywheel(expensive £550) changed on a Audi a4 2008 2.0 tdi for £120 and plus it was the awkward gearbox with the shaft going through it , a specialist quoted me £600!! nearly died
