Yes after 8 years and 11 months the original battery on the 2001 A2 has finally given up! in all that time it was never put on a charger to boost it!

I believe it would have lasted longer but the car was parked up for 8 weeks whilst the in laws were on holiday and never touched! Not good for a battery in cold weather - thereafter it wouldn't hold a charge.

What quality..........Somehow I doubt the one from Halfrauds will last as long

That's good going - I'm considering a replacement for Tank after 5.5 years.

I'm probably going to go for the Varta Silver, but am researching whether bigger batteries will fit.

I've also got the option of a battery as per OE specs but for the ridiculous price of £55 from my local supplier of Mintex brake kits.

Cheers,

Mike

I can try, but it'd be a nightmare to dispatch them, as they weigh about 25kg each!

Cheers,

Mike

That's true, if they don't fall through the boot floor!

10 members wanting a battery = 250kg = Tanks nose in the air!!

Cheers,

Mike

Still on my first battery after 9 years. I thought it was giving up at one time, but it looks like its had a second lease of life.
