Its just not right!

I think the insurance has a hard neck only offering £3500 to fix your car.

I tried to see how old it was but couldnt make it out.

Aviva were very fair with my payout,so much so I bought mine back and fixed it.

you very likely have a leaky pipe somewhere, maybe just with a hole / crack, as they'll get bigger when warm....

My car is 2001 sept and so far have 90,000 miles on the clock.

All rev fluctuation "seemed" to have disappeared to virtially nothing today . . . . . however its just not my month! Now its making a low grinding noise when I turn the steering wheel at nr full lock!! Gah!! Cars and Houses . . Who'd have em!! lol

Did the turbo boost problem occur before the accident / before the intercooler was replaced?

Yes. My turbo started playing up a year ago. As I havent needed to do any motorway driving I havent had it sorted but I need to drive down to kent this summer so It will get sorted soon with my (localish) gge (VW Rescue).

Ok in which case I'd bet money on it being one or more of the little flexible rubber hoses that sneak round the back of the engine between the turbo, the wastegate, the manifold, and what's called the N75 valve. Fiddly to access but not a complex job - it's leaky plumbing basically!

Thanks! Everyone else has said pretty much the same re the turbo fault! Now just need to figure out the new fault lol

Typical! Just been out to check the car over again, and now its not making any noises. You gotta love em!! Will put it down to poss picking up dirt!!
