Jack replacement

Hi,

The jack in my car's toolkit is worn out on the base and so offers no grip and so can not be used anymore.
With winter approaching and the eventual need to change to winter tyres I will need a new jack.
The original uses the a pin to lift the car using the side jacking points but none of the jacks I have seen in shops here have such an arrangement.
They all lift using a jackpoint under the car. Is it safe and easy to lift an A2 in this manner or could anyone recommend any specific jack requirements/options for the A2. I assume to just lift one wheel up a 1t capacity should be adequate.

Does this look useable for example:

(Descriptions are in Norwegian but numbers and images are clear enough...)

I am looking for something that can be left in the car.
How much does an original Audi jack cost in the UK?

Regards,

John

The car has jacking points behind the front wheels and in front of the back wheels near the side jacking points. I us a trolley jack to change my wheels, the Audi jack I leave only for emergencies. So the first link should be ok as long as you can place it at the correct place. See http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?4600-Jacking-points for some photos of where you may find the under car jacking point.

I also use a (small) trolley jack, which I keep in the car under the false floor alongside my spare wheel. - a lot easier + quicker than using the standard jack. It will lift both wheels on one side off the ground if raised high enough. As pointed out above, you will need to use the correct jacking points otherwise the sills will cave in.

Mine is a 2t one, and cost me £ 20 at Lidl or Aldi (one of their rotating special offers). So a lot cheaper than the examples you have linked to.
