First time the A2 features as it is now finally "old enough" to be included...

And it scores as the 2nd best Audi after the A6 and ties with the A4 for 35th position with 81.3%

Merc A-class scores a 93rd position below things like the Daewoo Matiz, Proton Wira and Hyundai Amica!!!! (Selectively chosen cars yes, but all true!)

So the cars above ours:

1. Honda Logo (who has ever seen one?) 87.7%
2. Toyota Yaris
3. Lexus IS200
4. Jaguar XJ
5. smart city coupe/cabrio
6. Toyota Corolla (go Runboy go!)
7= Skoda Octavia
7= Toyota RAV4
9. BMW 3
10= BMW 5
10= Skoda Fabia
12. Subaru Legacy
13= Honda Civic
13= Mazda 626
15. Toyota MR2
16= Diahatsu Sirion
16= Toyota Avensis
18. Suzuki Ignis
19. Saab 9-5
20. Mitshubishi Galant
21. Subaru Forester
22. Merc E
23= Honda Accord
23= Hyundai Elantra
25= Audi A6
25= Rover 75
27= Mazda Premacy
27= Volvo S60
29= Honda CRV
29= Mazda Demio
29= Mazda 323
32= Ford Focus
32= Honda HR-V
34. Toyota Celica
35= Audi A2
35= Audi A4
42. Audi A3
48. VW Golf
74. Audi TT
93. Merc A
138. VW Sharan (last) 71.4%

So of the German cars:

1. BMW 3 series
2. BMW 5 series
3. Merc E
4. Audi A6
5. Ford Focus
6. Audi A2/A4

Not bad I say...

I'm suprised to see the XJ up there in forth, however the rest are really no great suprise, including the A2.

Also surprised to see RAV4 so high, two colleagues of mine had them and got rid asap due to issues with them. Just bad luck perhaps.

A2 got the following marks out of 5:

Vehicle quality:
Mechanical reliability: 2/5
Interior quality: 5/5
Exterior quality: 1/5 (What on earth does that mean?)

Vehicle appeal:
Vehicle performance: 5/5
Vehicle interior: 5/5
Vehicle exterior: 5/5

Dealer service: 3/5

Total star rating 4 stars out of 5 and only the Mazda Premacy under MPVs beat it with 81,9% vs the A2's 81.3%

I never heard of anyone with major (or minor really!) exterior problems!.

Nice to see the Corolla up there-but I suspect it's the previous model and not the latest one like mine as they have only been around for 2 years max.

As for Honda Logo.....say no more. Weird little car-they must have sold two and both have done really well!.

Steve - 2002 1.4SE petrol, Silver, black/black interior, Then an identical replacement 2003 A2. Now a Toyota Corolla 1.6 T-Spirit

Yip - the pictures are of the bug eyed Corolla as featured in Ade's uglycar website!

Maybe the internal 1/5 is due to rattles?

Re ugly cars, it's not my site, I just found the link.

Johann, it's External in the list above, not internal. I have no clue what this is. If it HAD have been internal like you say, perhaps I could have understood.

I think 3/5 for dealer service is a good indication of the diverse response some of us get, from the downright arrogant to the exceptional at different dealers.

Re the A2 v A class comparison. I saw Top Gear GTi on cable last night - old programme, but the first item was A2 v A class - the A2 was an X reg 1.4 TDi SE - fully loaded. Steve Berry did the report and the A2 won hands down. Looks, interior finishes, handling, gearbox, performance, standard items and option list - the whole works, he couldn't understand why anyone would buy an A class. Good to see the smart in 5th.

Err, no.

I have had the opportunity to drive a Corolla in the past as a hire car (I get plenty of surprises as I never know what model I'm likely to get, my only stipulation is Aircon). Admittedly it was an older model (a good three years ago now, probably the 'bug eyed' model Johann refers to) but I found the ride a little 'spongy', especially in corners, etc. Nice enough otherwise though and I'm sure the latest model is just fine and dandy.

Yep-I had my second (ever in my life) chicken kebab tonight!. Yum yum. After a day trip (work) to York it's all I could be bothered to eat.
